The standoff started Monday at Pennswood apartments in Lower Paxton Township after a violent domestic assault in one of the apartment units.

Derrick Hutcherson, 36, of Harrisburg, has been arrested and is facing numerous felony charges, including attempted criminal homicide for shooting his 25-year-old girlfriend, as Daily Voice previously reported.

His girlfriend has been identified as Mariah Lewis.

Lewis lived in the apartment with her grandmother, Wanda Jackson, and son-- which she had with Hutcherson.

The couple has had years of issues with domestic disputes that have turned violent and police were called, according to information shared at a press conference on Wednesday.

This assault started with an argument over Hutcherson leaving and/or moving out of the apartment, during which he shot Lewis above her left eye.

Hutcherson live streamed a partial confession to the shooting on Facebook, the police have not answered whether or not that live stream will be considered an actual confession.

Hutcherson's Facebook has been taken down.

Lewis escaped and was found by a neighbor, Meaghan Farrell, who found her screaming for a hospital while banging on a neighbor's door, according to PennLive.

At one point Tuesday night, several hours before the standoff ended, Hutcherson opened fire at police, according to a statement local police released.

Both hostages-- his 2-year-old son and his girlfriend's grandmother-- were released safely.

Area residents who were either relocated to the Friendship Center or asked to shelter in place were able to safely sleep in their homes on Tuesday night.

Hutcherson has been arraigned.

In lieu of $3,000,000 in bail, he resides in the Dauphin County prison.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 7 at 2:30 p.m.
